Inspirations for CrafTreat Stencils!!

Hello Friends,

Neha Bhatt here Guest Designing for Craftreat blog!!! As you all know, The Craft Shop has come up with their own brand CrafTreat under which there are these beautiful stencils. There are so many designs and many of them are totally unique. Today, I am going to review following stencils.

First up is 2-step stencil - Lattice Flower
Two steps stencils come with multiple possibilities. I am showing few. I have used mostly Bielo card  stock for all the projects.

Just floral stencil, and distress oxides in Fossilized Amber and Worn Lipstick on dark brown card stock. I first stenciled with yellow than shift stencil a bit and align in between  space of floral pattern and apply pink ink.

The lattice stencil is used once with Mermaid Lagoon DI. Florak stencil is used twice with fossilized amber DI and scattered straw DI. look at the amazing pattern. Having that guiding hole in the top corner makes alignment super easy.

Same lattice stencil used twice to create this background. See how you can vary the designs by just changing the pressure you apply while inking. Here I have used very light hand while inking.

Last experiment made it to the card...:) I sponged Ground Coffee ink through Lattice stencil on light brown CS. I used floral stencil, first with salty water  DI. Allow it to dry for 10 minutes. Clean the stencil, align in the same place as before. Shift it a little on either side and apply WHITE PIGMENT INK through it. This will create a shadow under the white ink and the whole flower will look as if it is embossed.

I added MFT Stitched Flowers and a layered die cut to finish off the card.

Second is Aztec Border stencil.

I love this stencil. I simply masked the part of stencil and applied versa mark ink through that motif. Embossed it is white and repet the process till you cover the whole card front. I blended weathered wood and fossilized amber DI . I had this very old kokopelli stamp which I thought will go well with this ancient folk art like look. I enbossed it on a grayish lavender CS and added sentiment along with few dull gold sequins.

Third is Washi Tape Stencil

This stencil has some beautiful borders which can be used as a background or you can mask and use a single one for your project. There is no limit to what you can do with it. Here, I have used the whole stencil with rainbow of inks to create the background! You can cut individual stripes to use it as faux washi tape.

For this, I used the second from the top border , once with darker ink - flip the stencil and use it with the lighter ink to create this plaid border/washi tape. This is just one example. Try flip side of your stencils too... you will be amazed with the possibilities!

I have used first border from the stencil to create the waters and made rest of the card around it.

For the tag, I used the last border, some enamel dots and diecut sentiment

Last one is 2 layer Butterflies.

I knew what I was going to do with it when i saw the design during release.

I used basic stencil to paint butterflies with water colors. Be extremely careful with colors as they can easily bleed under the stencil & let dry each butterfly before starting new one. Once all are done, apply versamark ink using detailed stencil and emboss it in gold. Add some more, darker colors around embossed part. Check the close up.

I have used water color card-stock for the panel and bielo as a base.

I cut a small rectangle with stitched die from Bielo. Adhere the  butterfly mask with little bit of glue stick. Ink the panel with spun sugar DI. Add Victorian Velvet DI with finger dauber around the butterfly edge to cast shadow! Remove the mask & use Xyron Adhesive Eraser . Align smaller butterfly and blend yellow ink then  larger detail part

That is all for today!

In my opinion, these are pretty good stencils, designs are excellent, price is very pocket friendly, size is good for card makers too (as larger size than this would be difficult to work with for 4.25x5.5 card front). Easy to clean. @ layer stencils have this dot with which you can align your designs easily.
The best part is their inside edges of cut design which are very smooth. This is very important for the life of your blending foam. Even many well known international brands have rough and sharp edges which damage the foam badly. CrafTreat stencil's edges are clean and not that sharp which makes even cleaning easier.
I hope you will try out them! Thank you for being here!
